year in review

maybe a better title would be more related to my blog but I couldn’t come up with anything. anything worth sharing anyway. Essentially I have a number of things to talk about but no real clear thesis or purpose beyond getting this out of my head and onto this electronic page. if you have a better idea for a title let me know in the comments….

first and foremost I have officially become a Centenarian. well my blog has. I acquired my 100th follower sometime last week and I am humbled and amazed. I am so appreciative to all of you who read these posts, some simply a poem, some I’m sure are quite the rambled bit of reading. yet you all like and comment and read the things I post and that is amazing.

thank you all who choose to follow me on the journey of this blog. I can’t say were we are headed but I can assure you I will do my best to keep you all informed and entertained along the way.

speaking of this blog, what a strange path it has traveled since I began it. I have to keep reminding myself I only started this blog in January (yes 2023!). sometimes because I can’t get over how my follower count has grown, sometimes because I feel like this blog has gone through quite the evolutionary process.

I started this blog to share some information about how human beings operate, with the lofty goal of maybe helping someone to feel a little better or maybe just a little bit more normal.

now most of my posts are the haikus which quite honestly I have yet to figure out why I am writing or why cannot seem to prevent myself form forming in my mind. I have many more than those I have posted written in a journal which is never more than a step or two away from me. maybe someday I will post those here as well.

then I started playing around with ChatGBT and DELL-E two of the publicly accessible AI programs out there and posted some “art” and poems the robot overlords came up with.

I have written what could be considered journalistic reviews of things going on around me, and of conferences I have attended. That reminds me I just signed up for an 8-week course on integrating the masculine and the feminine, so that will likely end up on these electronic pages as well.

but what brought me to think to write this post was I just submitted a short story I wrote last month to a journal, The Baltimore Review. Why that journal? couldn’t really tell you. I did a google search thinking if I could find a place to send this story off to I would and if I couldn’t I will post it here. I don’t know how all of you choose the journal you submit your work to but this one had a submittal process which didn’t seem too pretentious and so they got my work. its a holiday weekend and the journal has a four month turn around time so I’m sure I will have forgotten I even submitted the story long before I hear back from anyone.

so wish me luck on that

and thank you all again for following me. To paraphrase a television show I never really watched but had one scene which was going around the internet for a while–I don’t know how long I will be writing this blog, but I can tell you for whatever amount of time I do I’m going to get really weird with it……
