Heard a guy say something in an Instagram video which blew me away. The quote was so profound that I immediately thought of expanding on it here but honestly I’m still to shaken by its truth and the clarity it provided me.
What was the quote?
First some context, it was in a video posted by someone I follow who basically just talks about what it was like growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, you know as a member of generation x, and I think part of what has me so shaken is the way he just blurbed it out and moved on like he hadn’t just summarized the difference between the generations with such profound clarity.
What did he say?
Generation X was raised under the expectation of self sufficiency.
We were left alone all day and sometimes all night, with no premade meals, no internet or delivery services for food, and with no idea when or if the adults would be back.
And we were expected not only to deal with that level of uncertainty, but we were also expected to eat, wash, have our homework completed (on actual paper mind you), and be in bed or quietly existing in our rooms or if we were luck the living room (where the television was) by the time anyone returned.
What sentence sums up your generation?…..
