I had a mentor in graduate school who beyond being one of the best analytic psychologists I have ever known, he was the first person in my life who made me feel like it was okay to be me. To be the feeling, curious, and a bit hyperactive person who I am and not feel like I had to change or hide or pretend I was something I am not.
This is not only a gift I give to all of my students, but it has become a foundational piece of my psychological practice with my patients. So much misery is caused by a person not feeling accepted for who they are and I want to change that. one contact at a time.
