Setting: a meeting which could have easily been an email yet somehow our hero, SoulDoc, finds himself required to attend
Somehow the topic has returned to the hospital’s horrendous scheduling policy for mental health patients and the worst of all possible scheduling sins, the no show
Evil Director of somethingorother (seriously why is he here?): what does everyone do with the time when a no show occurs? (His primary concern is not efficiency or even provider self care but whether he could get away with double booking appointments so on the off chance that one patient doesn’t show up the hour’s billing will not be lost. Of course he does not seem to understand what happens when both patients show up which is what usually happens.)
Other providers one and two: get caught up on my notes
Other providers three and four: complete required trainings
Evil Director: and what about you Dr. SoulDoc?
SoulDoc (rousing from near coma of disinterest): hmm?
E.D: what do you do with all the free time in your schedule due to no shows?
SoulDoc: the same thing I do every night, plot to take over the world
Room: utter silence
SoulDoc: what time does this meeting end?
ED: ….
SoulDoc: (mic drop)
