Mrs. SoulDoc and I are attending a concert tonight in a venue I have been in dozens of times. Some of my most treasured memories from high school and the decades of my life between then and now have been spent in the Shoreline Amphitheater seeing some band or another and rocking my socks off, as the kids used to say.
In those early days my friends and I would hit the parking lot early and tailgate, cooking hamburgers and our minds until the venue opened up and we could either take our seats or find a spot on the lawn.
Of course they banned barbecuing of any kind at some point, probably because someone got hurt or lit something on fire. Some changes are understandable if not good.
After that we child still show up ridiculously early only with sacks of cheeseburgers or coolers with cold cuts for sandwich making.
We still partied in anticipation of the show. Playing our stereos too loud and laughing as the excitement built.
So many hours of empty beer can collecting and hippy material indulging all in anticipation of torturing our eardrums and vocal cords for several hours.
Strange that person I was then seems gone forever most of the time, but not today baby. We are gonna party like it’s 1999 all over again before hitting the Amphitheatre like a tornado and enjoy another show.
How am I partying, you may be wondering. Well I am sitting in this hotel room studying for a law exam, while my wife and party buddy extraordinaire takes a nap.
Yeah I still got it.

This is a great post 🙂 it’s fun to think about how far we’ve come and where we still are 🙂
Absolutely the truth! I am constantly amazed at where I am and not just where I came from but how I got here.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate it.
