What were your parents doing at your age?
The year would have been 1993 when my father was my age. Seems so long ago and in such a different world…..

In 1993 most people did not have cell phones as they were heavy and very expensive.

Same with laptops….in case you are wondering that screen was four inches across and could display typed characters in green, white, or amber on a black screen and the laptop had a whopping 8mg of storage…
Depending on the month you are talking about in 1993 there was no internet. Think about that for a second, a world with now www’s…..

As my father’s birthday is after April when he turned my age the internet did exist but, as I know this man well, he didn’t use it or understand it.
What he was doing was working, in sales, as he always did and taking weekends to go camping and boating which he always loved.
At that same time I was still serving our country, in uniform nut I had returned from overseas and the world seemed quieter and safer than it does today.

It may actually be easier to say what he, and everybody, wasn’t doing….
We weren’t….
Taking pictures of our lunch
Worrying about what social media had to say or what someone had posted
Staring at a handheld device (which used to be called a phone) 24 hours a day
Being monitored by everything that plugs into a wall or had a battery
Weren’t making “online” friends
…..
I could go on and on and on and those of you in your 20’s won’t believe the things we didn’t have or that most of us in our 50’s still think it was a better world, but we do…..

The world has probably changed more in this past 30 years than any other similar period in history. For food … and for bad as well.
Yet in many ways, the lives of our parents was a lot simpler. 😀
As much as I enjoy the modern world of today and appreciate things like gps navigation in my phone, I can say with all sincerity 30 years ago was a better time. Thanks for stopping by and for commenting. I really appreciate it!
