the problem with editing

I sat down with my laptop to write a piece on a subject I have been mulling over for several weeks, but it seemed to me that I had already written about this subject before. so, not wanting to be redundant, I searched through my old posts looking for this particular subject.

I was surprised by how many posts I have actually made (almost 700!), and being the guy I am I read a few of them.

while I found some of them to be pretty good, you know what I found most of all?

mistakes!

spelling errors (not surprising), formatting errors (why are those two words joined???), grammatical and syntax errors……my former writing professors would be appalled to say the least.

I suppose I should edit my work more often than I do. That might make a good new years resolution.

hmmmm maybe that should be my next post, resolutions. I mean seriously, why do we lie to ourselves every year that we will do anything any different than we always have, on our own, and without help?

we should totally stop doing that to ourselves.

I don’t make or write resolutions. I do write intentions and bucket lists.

maybe I’ll write about that. seriously though, I need to do a better job of editing my work here and in other places.
